If a person is not exposed to contamination then there is not a risk to their health. The remediation works are being undertaken to ensure that the community and workers will not be exposed to the contamination.
The control measures being used during remediation to mitigate exposure include the use of negatively pressurised tents fitted with air filtration units. These tents are called odour control enclosures and will cover the areas of the site being remediated. The tents are designed to ensure there are no potentially harmful emissions from the works to the surrounding atmosphere. Once excavated, all materials are placed into trucks and sealed to ensure no emissions from the trucks can occur during transport. The materials are then disposed to a NSW EPA-licenced waste facility.
