What should I expect on the night?
There will be a diverse live music line-up of mostly female artists from around Australia. When bands are taking a break, Sydney’s best DJs will provide the soundtrack.
Food lovers will be treated to cooking demonstrations by the guest chef each Sunday from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Learn how to shuck oysters and cure fish with Bloodwood’s Claire Van Vuuren, discover how to blend and balance native spices and traditional curry methods with Anchovy’s Thi Le and take your pastry making skills to the next level by learning how to introduce native ingredients with Fred’s Jane Strode. All food workshops will be hosted by Andrew Levins, the DJ, chef and writer who presents and produces the culture podcast, The Mitchen.
On the four Saturdays, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, there will be free cultural workshops hosted by Barangaroo Delivery Authority’s Aboriginal Visitor Services guides that focus on the Aboriginal heritage and living culture of the site. Visitors can learn about traditional weaving, music, language and possum skin art.
Note: There will be a limit to the number of people in each workshop and cooking demonstration – 50 for some and 100 for others. Bookings will not be possible and enrolments will be on the basis of first in on the day.
Families will love exploring the Grandmother Tree, a large-scale interactive artwork created by Lucy Simpson and Archrival, a not-for-profit architecture organisation. The Grandmother Tree is a meeting place for visitors to Sunset20°N, inspired by Cammeraygal story and the beautiful angophora (Sydney Red Gum), creating an unforgettable experience which plays with light, colour and movement, casting a dramatic filter across the harbour to views of the iconic Sydney skyline.
You can join the celebration from 4pm on Fridays and 2pm on Saturday and Sundays. Come and relax with family and friends at this spectacular waterside location and enjoy an unforgettable Sydney Harbour sunset.
Food & beverages
Sunset20°N will offer delicious, local, seasonal food that pays tribute to the history of Barangaroo’s breathtaking headland. Curated by Claire Van Vuuren (Bloodwood, Popla), each weekend showcases a different guest chef with the inaugural line-up featuring Jane Strode (Fred’s, Sydney), Analiese Gregory (Franklin, Hobart) and Thi Le (Anchovy, Melbourne). Each guest chef has designed 2 dishes which are available on the weekend of their appearance only and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. You won’t want to miss out with dishes, including pickled mussels and sapphire in potato skin, stir fried yabbies with mountain pepper and curry, damper bread with native curry sauce and a macadamia and honey tart with crème fraîche sorbet.
In addition to the guest chef menu items, dishes designed by Bloodwood’s Claire Van Vuuren will be available across all four weekends. Experience the taste of native ingredients featured in blackened chicken with Davidson plum and Sriracha, pork and pickled muntries taco and smoked greens plus freshly shucked Pambula rock oysters. Claire has designed options for kids, as well as vegetarian options.
As there is a curated menu, with options for all ages and tastes, BYO food must be consumed outside the event area. There is a lawn outside the licensed area where the stage can be viewed. We understand that kids need snacks and a reasonable amount of kids and baby food will be allowed into the venue. Leave the esky at home and enjoy the menu.
The drinks list features predominantly organic, biodynamic wines from female winemakers across Australia. Cool down with beers from local Marrickville brewer Philter, founded by one of Australia’s first and most highly regarded female brewers, Sam Fuss. Each weekend will also feature a signature cocktail such as the Saltbush Margarita, Davidson Plum Cosmo and Lemon Myrtle Tom Collins.
As the event is licensed, no BYO alcohol is allowed in the licensed area. There will be signage regarding regulations and conditions at the bar areas. Accepted ID is a valid passport, NSW Photo Card or driver’s licence.

What should I bring?
- Hats, sunblock and clothing that provides weather protection;
- Empty water bottles to be filled on site;
- Charged mobile phone;
- Groundsheet or blanket; and,
- Cash (ATM facilities may not be available onsite).
What not to bring?
In the interest of public safety and amenity, these items are not permitted at the event and will be surrendered at entry:
- pets - assistance dogs permitted
- tarps or shade structures
- barbecues or cooking equipment
- bicycles, scooters or skateboards
- fireworks or sparklers
- footballs or frisbees
- large umbrellas over 50cm in length
- illicit substances
- opened beverages including thermoses; liquids will need to be disposed of at entry.
- tall chairs that obstruct visitor views; small, low chairs are appropriate.

No. Licencing restrictions prevent BYO alcohol. However, we will have a selection of alcohol for sale including wine, cocktails, beer, cider and soft drinks. View menu (pdf).
No, a selection of house-made fruit sodas are available for purchase. Sealed water bottles or empty re-fillable water bottles are permitted. Water fountains are available in the event site and free water will be available at the bars.
Yes. The following food outlets will be onsite. Main Food and Bar – serving a range of delicious, seasonal food including a kids menu. Oyster Bar– serving freshly shucked Pambula rock oysters. Baby food will be permitted into the venue. Please make sure that any liquids are sealed to comply with our liquor license conditions. We understand that kids need snacks. A small amount of snacks for children will be allowed into the venue. Please check the menu for children’s meals.
Yes. Sunset20°N is created with families in mind. It’s an intimate setting to relax with family and friends in a spectacular waterside location and enjoy an unforgettable Sydney Harbour sunset. Explore Barangaroo Reserve, participate in Aboriginal Cultural Workshops and Cooking Demonstrations or explore how the Grandmother Tree, a large-scale interactive artwork plays with light, colour and movement. The food and beverage menu caters for the whole family and any of the live music before 6pm is family friendly.
The event area is exposed to the weather, so be prepared for sunny or wet weather. Additional shade structures will be installed for the event; however, these will be filled on the basis of first in.
We will provide a limited amount of picnic rugs, bean bags and low chairs for use on the basis of first in. The event site is on lawn and there are other natural elements such as sandstone blocks to sit on. Feel free to bring along your own picnic rug or low beach style chair.

On arrival at the venue make your way to the workshop tent located next to the main stage (as indicated on the site map on the event signage) and put your name down with our event staff to secure your spot. There will be a limited number of people in each workshop and cooking demonstration – 50 for some 100 for others. Entry to the event is from 2pm on Saturday and Sunday and workshops commence at 2.30pm.
No, if the event reaches capacity prior to your full party arriving we will make sure they still have a good experience while they are waiting for space to free up. There will be a dedicated holding area with views to the event site and more people will be allowed to enter the event site when people leave. People under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Sunset20°N is a licensed event, people under the age of 18 cannot approach the bar for service. Both the Coffee outlet and the Food outlet at the main bar have soft drinks available for sale and under 18s may approach these outlets.
Patrons are permitted to enter and exit the site, however if the site has reached capacity at the point of re-entry, patrons will be directed to the holding area, where the stage can be viewed, until capacity permits re-entry.
Getting to and from the venue
Wilson Parking operates a public car park with 300 spaces beneath Barangaroo Reserve.
The entry is via a tunnel off Towns Place.
After parking, take the lift at the southern end of the car park. The lift provides access to Stargazer Lawn at the top of Barangaroo Reserve (Level 2). There is an entry/exit to Sunset20°N at the Northern edge of Stargazer Lawn.

We recommend alighting from Wynyard Station and making your way down Hickson Road by following the signs. It is a 10 mins or less walk to the Reserve. It is also possible to walk from Martin Place and Circular Quay stations which is around 15-20 mins walk to the Reserve.

The site will be officially be shut at 10pm. Bars will close at 9.30pm, which includes the bottle return facilities.
Entry and on the night
Gates will open at 4pm on Fridays and 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The main event entry is Barangaroo Reserve via the Towns Place entry. It is also possible to enter the event site from other points within the Reserve including from Stargazer Lawn and Wulugul Walk.
There are no queues for entry. Once your bag has been checked your will be able to enter the venue. The event has a limited capacity, when we reach our maximum capacity there will be a dedicated holding area with views to the event site. More will be allowed to enter the event site when people leave and capacity becomes available. Please keep in mind that the event entry is outdoors so it is good idea to be prepared for sunny or wet weather conditions.
Check the information above regarding items to bring and items to leave at home. There will be limited cloaking facilities onsite.
For safety reasons for yourself and others around you, we don’t allow shade tents. There will be a limited number of shade structures onsite. You are welcome to bring low level folding chairs or personal umbrellas with you.
Friday nights there will be a DJ from 5pm and a live band at 7.30pm. On Saturdays there will be a family-friendly band at 5pm, DJ from 6-8pm and a headline live music act at 8pm. On Sundays there will be a family-friendly band at 4pm and a DJ from 5-8pm.
