Construction of Watermans Cove, one of the significant new public areas of Barangaroo, is now underway. Hoardings for the site have recently been installed and work has commenced to remove sections of the existing concrete slab.
A key feature of the new cove will be a waterfront walkway and public pier. Construction of these features requires piling work to install new foundations in the harbour. This piling work is expected to commence from Thursday 21 February 2019 and will take approximately five months to complete.
The work is expected to be noisy and Lendlease will implement appropriate mitigation measures to minimise potential impacts, including the scheduling of work around the respite periods that form part of the development approval for this project.
The majority of materials and equipment for this work will be transported via barge to minimise vehicle movements and impacts to motorists and pedestrians in the Barangaroo area.
Construction activities will take place during approved construction hours of 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 5pm on Saturdays.
Watermans Cove is expected to be opened to the public in 2021.
