As previously advised, arts and social change organisation, Big hART, is now an artist in residence at the Cutaway, developing their thrilling creative project SKATE.
The next six week period will involve building SKATE the show, semi-regular open invitations to visit and skateboard in the Cutaway and four public performance and skateboarding events.
Key dates
- Four public events on Saturday 25 May, Saturday 8 June, Friday 21 June and Saturday 22 June, 6pm – 9pm (performance and Q&A 6pm – 7pm, open skate session 7pm – 9pm)
- Open invitation skate sessions on Saturdays 18 May, 1 June and 15 June (3pm – 7pm)
- One private VIP event on Wednesday 22 May 6pm – 7pm
What you can expect
- Noise associated with set up, rehearsal and pack down activities, including the use of machinery.
- Noise associated with the rehearsals and performance including audio testing, catering, equipment, skateboarding, low level crowd noise and recorded music. Monitoring will be in place throughout this time.
- All deliveries will occur via the Town’s Place loading dock.
Work hours
- Installation, set up and equipment testing activities will take place on Friday 10 May – Tuesday 14 May (excluding Sunday 12 May) and Monday 20 May between the hours of 7am and 10pm.
- Technical testing may take place between:

- Wednesday 15 May – Saturday 18 May
- 9am – 1pm on:
- Tuesday 21 – Saturday 25 May
- Tuesday 4 June – Saturday 8 June
- Tuesday 18 June – Saturday 22 June
- Rehearsals may take place between 9am - 6pm on the following dates:
- Tuesday 14 May – Saturday 18 May
- Tuesday 28 May – Saturday 1 June
- Tuesday 11 June – Saturday 15 June
- Technical rehearsals may take place between 1:30pm – 10pm on the following dates:
- Tuesday 21 May – Saturday 25 May
- Tuesday 4 June – Saturday 8 June
- Tuesday 18 June – Saturday 22 June
- No activity will take place on Sundays 12, 19, 26 May, 2, 9, 10 (public holiday Monday), 16 June.
- Either no activity, or technical testing only (no rehearsals), will take place on 27 May, 3 June, 17 June.

About SKATE at the Cutaway
Skateboarders, musicians, digital artists will collaborate to explore the art of skateboarding and develop a new theatrical show called SKATE.
